Greetings!
In this blog, you'll find a comparison of two extremely different music genres, jazz and baroque fugue. Specifically, I will be comparing Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as well as Duke Ellington's Take the A Train. They are both extremely famous in addition to being cornerstone works of different repertoires. Take the A Train is the signature song of Duke Ellington's orchestra, first recorded in 1941, the golden age of big band jazz. Toccata and Fugue on the other hand comes from around 1700 in Baroque era Europe and is arguably the most well known piece of organ music.
